Looks like they are using the crappy Doom engine.

And yeah, that game will pretty much get released by the time Unleash clears BT and Hyjal in a timely manner.

Duke 3D was brilliant, so much more fun than Quake, but I only got to experience the offline parts of each back in the day.

Snippets from the development history wiki:
Quote:
earlier screenshots were simply mock-ups with the Quake engine
3D Realms did not get the Quake II engine code until November 1997
3D Realms team switched to Epic's Unreal Engine.
3D Realms announced that they had upgraded to the newer version of the Unreal Engine
the team completely rewrote the renderer and other game engine modules
The engine, which now contains parts of an early version of Unreal Engine 2.0
Everything else has been written from scratch
reported that Duke Nukem Forever had switched to the Doom 3 engine.
they were still using the Unreal Engine, albeit a heavily modified version at this point.
replaced the Karma physics engine with one designed by Meqon

So, the game engine they've been developing with has switched from Quake -> Quake 2 -> Unreal 1 -> Unreal 1 rewrite -> Unreal 2 -> Doom 3, where every single switch basically means a development restart.

That's assuming that video isn't even MORE vaporware. Laughing

I also heard that they we're gonna do the old duke nukem 3d with the source-engine. (Half life 2, CS:S etc) with all the old maps, weapons, etc. A new Duke Nukem 3d, unfortunately Valve said no Sad

Duke Nukem Forever is not using the Doom 3 engine, and it never has, it's using the Unreal 2 engine with all the rendering reworked. The Doom 3-thing was just a rumour started by jokes about how they switch engine all the time.
