Don't believe "Dead man's chest" is anything like the thing suggested in Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead man's chest.
In Pirates of the Carribean the chest is used as an actual box. One which you put valuable items in, but a chest.
Now I bet some of you know the following sea shanty.

Here's the story behind the actual dead man's chest:
After mr Edward Teach (Probally better known as Blackbeard) dropped a mutinous crew on an Island. As stated in the Pirate code, crew that has been kicked off the ship must receive: A pistol, a bullet, some gunpowder and a bottle of water.
In this case mister Blackbeard gave the men, instead of the bottle of water, a bottle of rum (Hence the Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum).
He planted them on an Island which actually looked like a chest (A chest as in body piece, with ribs and so on) (Hence the Fifteen man ON Dead man's Chest)
The idea behind this obviously was that the crew would get drunk and kill eachother (Hence the Drink and the devil had done for the rest).
It sucks the story they're trying to tell doens't really have anything to do with Dead man's Chest... But at least you guys know the actual story and not some Holywood interpertation (Even though I bet the movie will be cool  ) |

I've read things about Pirates yes...
I've watched movies you don't even know they exist aswell..
